When converting PDF files to CMYK, the pdfColorConvert module creates gray areas entirely on the black channel (K) rather than mixing them from different colors. Unlike other color conversion tools that only detect gray from vector data, pdfColorConvert also supports the detection of gray in images. Following the conversion process, the photograph of the mother and child therefore exists only on the black channel.
Vector and text elements that exist entirely in black (K) are also defined with overprinting in order to avoid streaks in subsequent printing.
