pdfToolbox Server – Create images from PDF pages

This lesson shows how to create images from incoming PDF files with pdfToolbox Server 4 based on hotfolder automation.

pdfToolbox Server 4 Job Administration

Click on "New..." in order to create a new job.

Enter a job name

Choose the input folder

Click on "Choose".

Choose a folder

Create a folder for processing.

Enter a name for the folder

Enter a name, e.g. "Create images".

Choose the just created folder

Click on "Choose".

Choose destination folders for processing

Define Success folder, Error folder and Processed folder as subfolders of the In folder

Choose the option "Subfolder" for all the three destination folders (Success, Error, Processed).

Choose action

Select the option "Action" and then "Save as image" from the drop down list.

Set up parameter

E.g. set the resolution to 150 ppi and choose "JPEG medium" (medium quality). The option "Simulate overprint" is pretty useful to reproduce the overprint settings of the original objects properly.
Save the job.

In the Job Administration, activate the checkbox belonging to the job and start processing

Click on "Start".

Copy both demo files to the hotfolder

The files will be processed immediately

Two image files will be stored inside the Success folder.

Most of the information about the processed steps and processing time per file, page and megabyte can be found in the list view as well as in the section "Statistics".
