callas OEM technology

callas technology is integrated directly into many standalone applications and web environments. Technical and commercial solutions are available for any integration. Close interaction with callas developers and product managers ensures fast time-to-market and ongoing first-class support.

The technology

When your solution needs PDF rendering, transparency flattening, preflight, imposition, or any other kind of PDF processing, the callas core technology can be flexibly integrated. Extending your solution is simple and fully supported on Linux, Windows, and macOS. How you choose to integrate it depends on your needs and preferences:

  • Command-line (CLI) versions allow easy integration into a wide range of platforms and solutions. With a very short learning curve, it’s ideal to get going quickly. The CLI versions expose almost all functionality from pdfToolbox, pdfaPilot and pdfChip, and through their extensive support for variables, can be integrated in extremely flexible ways.
  • Software Development Kit (SDK) versions are available when the closest integration into your solutions is necessary. The SDKs are written natively in C / C++, and wrappers are provided for Java and .NET environments.
  • A SaaS version of the technology is available through a simple REST API. The solution is fully scalable and managed by callas, so you don’t have to. The technology is very similar to what is available in the CLI versions, but nothing has to be installed or managed locally, and scaling/queueing is built right in.

Not ready for a conversation quite yet, but want to know more about what the callas technology can be used for in your products? Consult the product documentation for the different callas products, or check out the callas YouTube channel. A good place to start is an overview video for pdfToolbox.

Licensing

For use in projects inside an organization, licenses are available under the same terms as server versions of the pdfToolbox, pdfaPilot or pdfChip products.

Software vendors, SaaS providers, and OEM customers enter into an OEM license agreement, where the terms of the contract depend on the type of product, how you sell it, and how important the technology you license from us is for your product. This ensures that the callas technology is not only easily integrated, but that it also meets your business model and needs.

License fees usually combine an annual minimum fee – to cover ongoing support and maintenance costs – and royalties based on one or more suitable metrics.
